The air handler is the part of the furnace responsible for circulating air throughout the home during operation. These bearings wear down over time, causing the friction on the system to increase. This creates a loud grinding sound while the system is operating. If the bearings are not replaced in time, the air handler motor will overheat and burn out. So, make sure that you call for repairs as soon as you hear that grinding sound.

Ignition Issues
If you’re using a gas furnace, you should know that the entire furnace relies on its burner assembly in order to generate heat. If your furnace isn’t actually generating any heat, there might be a couple of reasons why. Your burner assembly might be clogged, which will prevent it from burning gas properly. Professional cleaning should fix the problem. It’s also possible that the ignition device itself is malfunctioning, and can’t provide the spark to light the furnace. That might be repairable, but it’s also possible that the part will need to be replaced. Either way, the issue will need to be resolved before the furnace can properly heat the home again.
